Wittenberg is a place full of tradition and cultural heritage. The reformers Martin Luther, Philipp Melanchthon, Lucas Cranach, among others fulfilled their lifemissions in this German town. With a unique legacy of reformatory, intellectual and humanistic thinking, they once created a global impact and outreach.
In the 18th century Anton Wilhelm Amo, born in Axim in Ghana, came to Wittenberg. He was the first African ever who studied at a university in Europe. In 1734 he gained a degree as a Doctor of Philosophy at Leucorea with his thesis on the body-soul-problem.
Nowadays in the age of globalization Wittenberg is still a place of reforms, innovation and emancipation. The Wittenberg Center for Global Ethics would like to merge the unique legacy and the new movement to build and strengthen Global Cooperation.
Please find some information on selected activities at the Center in the last years.
